Job summary

Arc’teryx is seeking a Designer 2 – Men’s Hike to design comprehensive apparel solutions aligned with our design philosophies. You will evolve the Hike offerings, balancing materials, fit, features, and style to meet guest needs in North Vancouver, on-site.

You will create mockups, tech packs and collaborate across teams to commercialize innovative technologies and ensure a fully modeled, tested product line.

Qualifications

  • Degree in apparel design; 5+ years hands-on experience.
  • Strong knowledge of technical design, sewing and garment construction.
  • Proficient with Adobe Suite (3–5 years).
  • Ability to build tech packs and communicate ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute assigned product designs within seasonal timelines.
  • Contribute to commercialization of innovative technologies including materials, pattern/part shaping and construction techniques.
  • Create mockups and prototypes to explore, resolve, or prove new concepts or construction techniques.
  • Provide detailed product initiations to Product Development, including spec drawings, pattern and fit direction, and material information.
  • Collaborate with the Fit & Pattern Team to resolve fit style and construction issues and ensure a fully commercialized product.
  • Coordinate with the Raw Materials team to test new materials and ensure that necessary items are available for prototyping.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques that Arc’teryx works with.
  • Collaborate closely with other Designers to bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.)
  • Staying up to date with industry trends, collaborating with Arc’teryx athletes and other industry representatives to help ensure Arc’teryx is exceeding our guests’ evolving needs.
  • Assisting with current product design changes where necessary to address in-line production issues.
  • Supporting the Design Director in developing a schedule for the flow of the line plan through all development stages, including charting line plan progress.
  • Partnering with Development Team Manager to gain visibility into cost estimates, MOQs and LOM concerns throughout concepting and prototyping for seasonal products.
  • Presenting at internal meetings, design reviews and seasonal stage gates, annual seasonal handoffs and other product meetings as required.
  • Attending tradeshows, company events as well as sourcing and development vendor visits as required

As a Designer 2 - Men’s Hike, you design comprehensive apparel solutions that align with the Arc’teryx design philosophies, continuously exceeding our guests’ evolving needs. In this highly technical role, you assist in the continued evolution of how we design and approach our Hike apparel offerings, contributing to innovative, relevant and resolved outcomes that fit within our existing collections. You provide resolved solutions that consider materials, feature set, fit, and style to meet specific needs. You bring your curiosity and passion for snow products to imagine and build innovative, relevant designs.

  • Designing pants, woven garments, knits, fleece, insulation and gore styles

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-site. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were in the Designer 2 – Men's Hike role now, here are some of the core activities you would be responsible for

  • Owning and overseeing all aspects of model creation - from ethos, to plans, through to production, you could grow to oversee hike products
  • Partnering directly with athletes on product evolutions, feedback insights and relationship building
Are you our next Designer 2 – Men's Hike
  • You have a degree in apparel design and 5+ years hands‑on experience designing clothing
  • You have intermediate knowledge, skill and ability in the technical design process, sewing and garment construction
  • You are technically proficient with 3-5 years’ experience using the Adobe Suite
  • You have proven technical and creative skills to build tech packs, communicate your ideas and you have a solid understanding of garment construction
  • You have the capability to create tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issues
  • You are a collaborative communicator, keen to create relationships and spaces for ideation and product exploration
  • You demonstrate initiative, agility, and commitment, while balancing autonomy and collaboration
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity, and thrive in a fast paced, diverse, ever evolving and values led environment
  • You have strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision‑making skills

Compensation

The salary range for this role is CAD$82,000 - CAD$103,000.
