Duties

Work both independently and within a design team to prepare design packages for transportation and municipal infrastructure projects including water distribution, sanitary and storm sewers, stormwater management, road design, and utility coordination.

  • Prepare engineering design calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed CADD plan/profile design drawings for transportation and linear infrastructure projects.
  • Attend client meetings and prepare meeting minutes as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender specifications for projects.
  • Work in the field to gather data for projects using data collectors and survey with portable GIS equipment.
  • Provide support during construction such as submittal coordination, meeting agenda and notes preparation, payment certificates, and site review, as required.
  • Other duties as required where appropriate for the position.

Qualifications

Recent college graduate from a 3 year Civil/Municipal Engineering program or a College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.

  • 2-5 years of work experience within the field is preferred, but superior candidates with less experience will be considered.
  • Registered as a CET or able to obtain CET designation with OACETT within a two-year period.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Some experience with undertaking engineering surveys, level surveys and field measurements.
  • Able to be trained in Confined Space Entry procedures and undertake confined-entry inspections into sewers and tunnels as required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to coordinate work across multiple teams and job sites.
  • Demonstrates superior English communication skills both oral and written.
  • A valid G driver’s license and access and use of a reliable vehicle is required.
