Job summary

AG Growth International Inc. (AGI) is seeking a Design Engineer Lead to drive the design and development of complex products across our portfolio. You will own the full lifecycle from concept to commercialization, ensuring performance, cost, and manufacturability targets are met.

As a senior technical leader, you will champion engineering excellence, collaborate with product and business leaders to shape strategy, and mentor the team to uphold high design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required or equivalent.
• P.Eng. designation preferred in Canada.
• 7–10+ years of design engineering experience.
• Proven track record leading complex product development.

• Design Leadership & Development: lead design of complex products, focusing on performance, cost, and quality.
• End-to-End Project Ownership: manage full lifecycle from concept to commercialization.

The Opportunity

The Design Engineer Lead is responsible for leading the design and development of complex products and systems across AGI’s portfolio. This role owns the full product lifecycle from concept through commercialization, ensuring solutions meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.

As a senior technical leader, the Design Engineer Lead drives innovation, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement while collaborating closely with product and business leaders to shape product strategy and technical direction. This role also plays a key part in developing engineering talent and ensuring high-quality design standards across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Design Leadership & Development – Lead the design and development of complex products and systems, ensuring alignment with performance, cost, and quality objectives.


• End-to-End Project Ownership – Own full product lifecycle from concept through commercialization, ensuring timely and effective delivery.


• Innovation & Optimization – Drive innovation initiatives, cost reduction strategies, and product standardization efforts across the portfolio.


• Advanced Engineering Analysis – Perform and oversee advanced engineering analysis, including structural, performance, and risk assessments.


• Strategic Collaboration – Partner with Product Management and leadership to influence product strategy, roadmap direction, and technical decisions.


• Design Review & Approval – Review and approve designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure quality and compliance.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure designs are practical, scalable, and manufacturable.


• Team Leadership & Development – Manage, mentor, and develop engineering team members, fostering technical growth and strong performance.


• Continuous Improvement – Lead initiatives to enhance design processes, tools, and engineering standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Agricultural, or related field)


• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation preferred (Canada)


• Typical experience: 7–10+ years in design engineering


• Proven experience leading complex product development projects from concept through production


• Strong expertise in CAD design tools (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent)


• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial environments


• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex engineering solutions


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills


• Effective leadership, communication, and mentoring capabilities


• Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and influence technical direction
