Job summary

AG Growth International Inc. (AGI) Winnipeg facility seeks a journeyman electrician to support day-to-day troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems.

You’ll work on low/high voltage industrial controls, read schematics, and collaborate with engineering, production and external contractors to drive safety and reliability. The role requires 5–8 years of manufacturing maintenance and 3–5 years of PLC/HMI programming experience, plus a valid Journeyman certificate.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician certificate is a prerequisite.
• 5–8 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• 3–5 years of PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with PLC hardware such as PLC5, SLC, ControlLogix, Motion Control, MicroLogix, PanelView, Indramat drives and PowerFlex drives.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and install low/high voltage industrial electro-mechanical systems.
• Repair and install machinery, control systems and automation.
• Electrical wiring and testing of automated systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on metal forming equipment.
• Program changes and troubleshooting PLC and HMI, calibrate equipment.
• Improve safety, efficiency and reliability through continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain documentation and read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Create/update electrical parts lists and assist with building power systems.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Electrician will be responsible for the day-to-day troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the facility’s electrical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Day to day trouble shooting, repair and installation of low and high voltage (single/three phase) industrial electro-mechanical and control systems.
• Repair, troubleshooting and installation of machinery including electrical and electronic equipment, control systems and automation.
• Electrical wiring and testing of automated systems.
• Preventative maintenance and servicing metal forming equipment.
• PLC and HMI programming changes and troubleshooting including modification and calibration of equipment.
• Optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability, participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules.
• Ensure completion of required documentation, legal standards compliance,
• Assist in maintaining documentation for existing and new equipment, control, and building power system installations.
• Must read and interpret electrical and electronic drawings, schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches to determine problem and make appropriate repairs.
• Creation/updating of electrical parts lists as required.
• Provide assistance to mechanical installations as directed.
• Work with engineering, production and outside contractors to solve design, developmental and other improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• A valid Journeyman Electrician certificate is a prerequisite.
• 5 to 8 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing processes. 3 to 5 years of experience with PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting skills required.
• Experience with a wide range of PLC hardware systems including and not limited to PLC5, SLC, Control Logix, Motion Control, Micorlogix, Panel View, Indromat drive, and Power Flex Drives.
• Excels at interpreting manuals, blueprints, schematics, written instructions and maintaining logs.
