Reports To: Engineering Manager
Location: Sturgeon Falls, ON

Summary of Position

The Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering department, including but not limited to, 2D and 3D modelling, drafting, research and development support, prototyping, engineering documentation, cost evaluation and process improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with design/purchasing and shop/maintenance teams on design projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Use specialized software to create models and drawings of products and processes
  • Research new materials and methods of development
  • Organize and maintain existing engineering records
  • Manage and control drawing revisions
  • Performs physical testing on engineering prototypes
  • Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
  • Background in manufacturing methods and process improvement programs.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Experience leading teams comprising of maintenance, contractors and/or engineering personnel
  • Result driven leader who can build and drive group work. Work independently when required.
  • Must possess strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work and interface with all departments.
  • Proficiency with scheduling and maintenance software’s, Dynamics NAV, CAD, Solid works and others.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office and adaptable to other software applications.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues or concerns tactfully in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience working in an environment that was ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 certified.
