Job summary

OMERS is seeking an Analyst in Derivative Operations to support mid-office processes for OTC and listed derivatives, ensuring accurate trade settlements and positions across global markets. You will work closely with traders, brokers, and internal teams to maintain a reliable book of record and comply with regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an undergraduate business degree, with strong Excel/CRD/Bloomberg familiarity, excellent communication, and a keen eye for detail.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Business Administration/Commerce program.
  • Pursuit or completion of relevant industry courses is an asset.
  • Exposure to investment operations with operational knowledge of derivatives instruments and hedge funds.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to deal with all levels within the organization and external contacts.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet deadlines; flexible and detail-oriented.
  • Experience with investment accounting, reporting and audit control practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word; CRD and Bloomberg familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the book of record for derivative investment transactions to ensure trade settlement, cash entitlements and forecasting.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely confirmation and settlement of derivatives transactions with traders and brokers.
  • Review daily verifications between book of record and trading system; resolve discrepancies.
  • Complete portfolio and market opening requests, including external party onboarding requirements.
  • Oversee ongoing market maintenance for invested products and ensure regulatory adherence (ISDA/CSA).
  • Perform control checks between OMERS and counterparty records for OTC, CCP and ETD derivatives.
  • Prepare management reports on derivative investments including assets, cash flows and costs.
