Job summary

ALS is seeking a Depot Coordinator for the Fredericton depot to manage the flow of work, prepare bottle orders, and process samples into the ALS network. You will ensure accuracy, meet deadlines, and maintain exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires organizing inventory, coordinating shipments, and supporting regional operations while adhering to safety policies. A college or technical diploma and a valid driver’s license are preferred, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • College or technical Diploma (science discipline preferred).
  • Experience with customer service setting.
  • Valid, clear driver’s license and use of own vehicle for travelling an asset.
  • Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and couriers in the sample receiving area.
  • Prepare bottle orders and sample preservatives for packing and shipping.
  • Package and ship samples using appropriate couriers and procedures.
  • Organize, prioritize, and track orders.
  • Review and double check bottle orders prepared by others for errors.
  • Receive supplies and distribute to appropriate department.

About the Position

ALS is excited to hire for a Depot Coordinator for our newly established Fredericton depot operation. This position will be key to successful entry to the Atlantic market and there will be potential to grow with the operations. This role will consist of Coordinating the flow of work in the depot including preparing accurate bottle orders for delivery to clients throughout the Atlantic region and processing received samples into the ALS network. The successful candidate must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and meeting strict deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on customer service.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Welcome clients and couriers in the sample receiving area;
  • Prepare bottle orders and sample preservatives for packing and shipping;
  • Package and ship samples using appropriate couriers and procedures;
  • Organize, prioritize, and track orders;
  • Review and double check bottle orders prepared by others for errors;
  • Receive supplies and distribute to appropriate department;
  • Process return shipments for laboratory supplies;
  • Take weekly stock counts;
  • Maintain inventory control of sample bottles and general lab and shipping supplies;
  • Deliver late shipments to couriers and others as required;
  • Deliver/pickup of shipments, as required;
  • Trace lost/late shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments;
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and couriers;
  • Clean and manage coolers after sample login;
  • Ensure sample receiving area is clean, organized, and presentable at all times;
  • Receive samples/coolers;
  • Unpack and layout all samples from each submission in the order of the submission;
  • Label verification;
  • Basic building maintenance;
  • Provide general assistance to support regional operations as required;
  • Follow internal Standard Operating Procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality procedures are adhered to;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lab Supervisor or Regional Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good English communication skills (auditory, verbal, writing, and reading) as required;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) on a basic level;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks correctly in a fast-paced environment;
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines such as Turnaround Times (TAT) and holding requirements;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to own varied tasks as required;
  • Strong customer service background;
  • A commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.
Required Qualifications

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs./23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
  • Extensive walking or movement, bending, and kneeling for a full shift;
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.

  • An estimated hourly pay of $22.27CAD at the time of posting.
