Job summary

ALS is seeking a Login Assistant to help receive and organize samples, verify client information, and enter data into laboratory systems. You will work independently and with a team to ensure timely processing and high-quality service for clients.

The role requires basic English communication, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines in a production environment. The position is on-site in Calgary, with shift options to cover 24/7 operations and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some experience in fast-paced, production and/or preparation environments.
  • Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic laboratory safety is an asset.
  • Experience with chemicals or in a laboratory setting is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates day-to-day activities of sample reception/layout clerks.
  • Acts as primary contact regarding sample reception for lab staff and Account Managers.
  • Coordinates incoming work and prioritizes by holding times and rush TAT.
  • Coordinates subcontract samples to Shipping daily.
  • Ensures high level of customer service in all client interactions.
  • Labels samples and distributes to appropriate locations as required.
  • Processes samples to meet turnaround goals.

At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.About the Position:The Login Assistant is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of incoming samples into the analysis stream. The priority will be to receive and organize samples, verify client information, and enter pertinent information into the laboratory data systems. You will be working independently and in a team environment, with an emphasis on providing quality and efficient service to clients.Specific ResponsibilitiesCoordinates the day-to-day activities of the sample reception/layout clerks;Acts as the primary point of contact regarding sample reception for the lab staff and Account Managers for questions regarding samples and client submissions;Coordinates all of the incoming work and directs organizational priority based on holding times, rush TAT, etc.;Coordinates any subcontract samples that need delivery to Shipping on a daily basis;Ensures a high level of customer service in all interactions with clients and couriers;Carries out all duties of the Sample Receipt Clerk as required (see below for details);Receives samples and communicate with couriers;Records sample temperatures and conditions on delivery;Completes required paperwork for sampler analysis requests and processing;Notifies Client Service representatives of any non-conformances or rush work;Labels samples and distribute to the appropriate locations when required;Processes samples in a timely manner to meet company turn around goals;Act as a backup Login Clerk - Login training required:Enter client information, sample identification and analysis required;Ensure correct due dates and comments are applied to the file;Handling rush requests: notify the appropriate lab staff and Account Managers;Print labels for all samples containers;Generate paperwork for any internal or external sublets analyses;Pass the completed file, printed labels and sublet paperwork to a Sample Layout Clerk for final labelling.Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesGood English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), with basic computer skills;Accurate and efficient data entry skills;Well organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines;Process oriented, with the ability to critically think in ambiguous situations;Work independently and as part of a team;Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.Required QualificationsCompletion of high school diploma or equivalent required;Some experience working in a fast-paced, production, and/or preparation environment;Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic laboratory safety is an asset;Experience working with chemicals or in a laboratory setting (ex. school) is an asset, but not required.Physical DemandsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs./23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;Ability to stand for up to a full shift;Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;You may be exposed to unpleasant fumes;Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.Our Benefits Include:An estimated hourly pay of $20.74 CAD at the time of posting.
