Job summary

Real Canadian Superstore in Alberta is hiring a Department Manager in Training to lead a designated department, coach a team, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. You will complete a comprehensive development program that builds skills in leadership, operations, and merchandising.

You will partner with store leaders to meet business goals, ensure inventory accuracy, maintain a safe environment, and foster an inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
• Flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Previous retail management experience is an asset.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate associates.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Partner with store leaders to meet key metrics, including profit and loss, customer satisfaction, execution standards, audit compliance, labour management, and productivity.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of a designated department, ensuring operational excellence and customer service.
• Drive department sales and profitability by meeting or exceeding performance goals.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of colleagues, building skills in customer service, product knowledge, merchandising, and operational excellence.
• Create a positive and inclusive workplace by fostering colleague engagement, development, retention, and a culture of belonging.
• Ensure merchandise is stocked, displayed, priced, and replenished through inventory management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.
• Collaborate with store management and department leaders to support store-wide priorities and deliver business results.
• Partner with the store leadership team to implement people strategies that align with business objectives, values.
• Uphold merchandising, operational, and compliance standards while driving continuous improvement across the department.
