Job summary

Save-On-Foods in Prince Rupert, BC, is hiring a Department Manager, Centre of Store, to lead the department and drive a customer-first experience.

You will coach your team, manage performance, and ensure health and safety, food safety, and merchandising standards while achieving sales targets and delivering strong KPI results. This role requires open availability for full-time hours and physical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience with achieving sales targets and profitability, executing merchandising plans, and HR activities (training, coaching, mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations; health and safety policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department, coaching and mentoring the team.
• Drive operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engage and retain team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicate key messages and business objectives to department staff; align with organizational goals.
• Review financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, and present KPIs to management.
• Analyze department metrics and dashboards to inform decisions and growth.
• Support strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty; lead inventory counts and end-of-period processes.
• Perform all department duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in hot/cold environments.

We are hiring a Department Manager, Centre of Store at our Save-On-Foods location in Prince Rupert, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging andretainingteam members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and businessobjectivesto team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports,identifyingopportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/periodend of the department and resolving issues asrequired.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50lbs), standing forlong periodsof time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in abusiness relatedfield is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
  • Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
  • Human Resources (e.g.training, development,coachingand mentoring).
  • Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
  • Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiencywith computer applications.
