Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry.

Experience: Experience is an asset.

Work Setting
  • Private practice
Tasks
  1. Examine patients' teeth, gums, and surrounding tissue.
  2. Restore, extract, and replace diseased and decayed teeth.
  3. Perform oral surgery, periodontal surgery, and other treatments.
  4. Design bridgework, fit dentures, and provide appliances.
  5. Write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for use by denturists and dental technicians.
  6. Act as consultants to other dentists.
  7. Educate patients concerning oral hygiene.

  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities.
  • National Dental Examining Board of Canada Certification.
