Job summary

Sovereign Dental in Thunder Bay, ON invites a friendly, motivated Level 11 Dental Assistant to join our team. You will provide chairside support, manage administration, and help maintain a positive patient experience in a fast-paced clinic.

HARP Certification is required; experience with Open Dental is a plus. We offer comprehensive benefits and a welcoming, child-focused work environment in Thunder Bay.

Qualifications

• Current HARP Certification (required).
• Dental assisting experience preferred; pediatric experience assets.
• Open Dental software experience advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, procedures and infection control protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and families.
• Compassionate, patient and dependable with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during examinations and dental procedures.

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and materials before/after procedures.
• Take and process dental radiographs per protocols.
• Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene and aftercare.
• Maintain accurate patient records using Open Dental software.
• Support appointment flow for a positive patient experience.
• Adhere to IPAC, sterilization, and health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during examinations and dental procedures.
• Provide efficient chairside support while maintaining a safe, organized, and sterile clinical environment.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before and after procedures.
• Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with prescribed protocols.
• Comfort and support patients, helping to reduce anxiety and create a positive dental experience.
• Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient records using Open Dental software.
• Assist with appointment flow to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.
• Adhere to all infection prevention and control (IPAC), sterilization, and health and safety standards.
• Contribute to a positive, supportive, and team-oriented workplace culture.

Qualifications
