Job summary

YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is seeking a reliable Dental Assistant (Level I or II) to join our clinical team in Owen Sound, Ontario. The role offers in-person work with a Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM schedule and alternate Fridays 8:30 AM–3:00 PM, plus every other week a 3-day weekend and no evenings.

• Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
• NDAEB certificate preferred.
• Certification as a Level I or II Dental Assistant in Ontario is required or preferred if uncertified.
• Valid HARP certification for taking X-rays.
• Current CPR / First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Chairside assisting during general, restorative, or cosmetic procedures.
• Greet and prepare patients; review histories and explain post-operative care.
• Sterilize, clean, and set up instruments and rooms per guidelines.
• Take digital dental X-rays and assist with lab work as applicable.
• Use dental software to track notes and coordinate with the admin team.

We are seeking a reliable, positive, and compassionate Dental Assistant (Level I or II) to join our growing clinical team. In this role, you will work closely with our dentists and hygienists to deliver exceptional chairside care, maintain strict infection control standards, and ensure our patients have a comfortable, stress-free experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Chairside Assisting: Provide dynamic chairside assistance to the dentist during general, restorative, or cosmetic dental procedures.
• Patient Comfort: Greet and prepare patients for treatment, review medical histories, and explain post-operative care instructions.
• Sterilization & Safety: Clean, sterilize, and set up dental instruments and treatment rooms in strict accordance with Public Health Ontario guidelines.
• Radiography & Lab Tasks: Take high-quality digital dental X-rays (panoramic and intraoral) and assist with digital impressions or laboratory work where applicable.
• Digital Practice Management: Use our dental software systems to track clinical notes, update patient records, and coordinate with the administrative team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program (NDAEB certificate preferred).
• Certification as a Level I or Level II Dental Assistant in Ontario.
• Valid HARP certification (required for taking X-rays).
• Current CPR / First Aid certification.
• Software Proficiency: Practical experience with Dentrix and/or Akitu One practice management software is highly preferred.
• Strong manual dexterity, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills.
