Job summary

Uptown Dentistry in Saint John’s Market Square is seeking a qualified Dental Assistant to join a diverse team delivering hygiene, general, cosmetic and restorative dentistry. You will prepare treatment rooms, assist dentists, take X-rays, sterilize instruments, update charts and support scheduling.

Qualifications

• Registered and/or Licensed as a Dental Assistant with your Provincial regulatory body or association is required.
• Previous dental assisting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Assist dentists and hygienists during treatments, maintaining patient comfort and workflow
• Take dental X-rays and digital images as required
• Perform instrument sterilization and infection control following IPAC standards
• Update patient charts and provide education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
• Support scheduling, patient flow, and administrative tasks
• Collaborate with the dental team to deliver efficient, high-quality care
• Follow all privacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines
• Establish strong patient relationships while maintaining ethical professional behaviour
