Job summary

The Dental Clinic at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, part of University Health Network, is seeking a Preventative Dental Assistant on a casual basis to support the dentist and patient flow in a fast-paced cancer care setting.

Responsibilities include preparing work areas, maintaining room cleanliness, assisting with simple dental procedures, handling reception tasks, and monitoring operatories, all in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Position Summary

The Dental Clinic is designed to meet the needs of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre's special patient population who face barriers in accessing dental care in private offices.

Duties

• As a member of the department of Dentistry, the responsibilities of the Preventative Dental Assistant include:
• preparation of work area for dentist and patient flow
• ensuring room, equipment and supply cleanliness
• under the orders, supervision and guidance of the supervising dentist, performing simple dental procedures within scope of practice
• performing reception responsibilities and confirming patient booking information; monitoring in-room inventory for operatories
• performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
• working in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.

• Completion of an accredited dental assistant program
• Experience preparing work area for dentist and patient flow
• Experience performing simple dental procedures
• Experience confirming patient booking information; monitoring in-room inventory for operatories
