Job summary

University Health Network in Toronto, Ontario, seeks a General Practitioner, Oncology to support pediatric cancer survivors in a weekly Survivorship Clinic, with in-person work at Princess Margaret Hospital and occasional virtual visits.

The role requires an active license to practice in Ontario and membership in good standing with CFPC and/or RCPSC, with experience in cancer care highly valued. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient-focused care.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with CFPC and/or RCPSC.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Ontario (CPSO).
  • Experience in cancer care preferred.
  • Demonstrates clinical excellence with interest in system-wide cancer care issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Pediatric Cancer Survivors in Survivorship Clinic (1–2 shifts/month).
  • Use Children’s Oncology Group guidelines to create surveillance and follow-up plans.
  • Coordinate with primary care providers and disseminate recommendations.
  • Organize surveillance investigations and referrals to specialists.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and SickKids Aftercare Team.

Job Summary

General Practitioner, Oncology work with Pediatric Cancer Survivors in a weekly Survivorship Clinic, Will address concerns such as anxiety, depression, school difficulties, relationships, self-esteem, and adjusting to life after cancer. The goal is to improve overall well-being and help survivors and their families manage the long-term challenges of cancer.

Duties

  • Work with Pediatric Cancer Survivors in a weekly Survivorship Clinic working approximately 1-2shifts per month
  • Utilize the Children’s Oncology Group guidelines to create surveillance recommendations and follow-up plans
  • Disseminate recommendations and plans to primary care providers
  • Be responsible for organizing surveillance investigations, following up on results and initiating referrals to specialists
  • Have a basic understanding of fertility and the potential impact from cancer treatment
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care
  • Collaborate with the SickKids Aftercare Team
  • Work primarily in-person at Princess Margaret with the occasional virtual clinic visit
  • Member in good standing with the Royal College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and/or General Internal Medicine with the Royal College Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Ontario, a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) with a valid OHIP billing number.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital with experience in cancer care will be given strong preference.
  • Demonstrate clinical excellence with interest/knowledge in clinical, administrative, and system-wide issues with respect to cancer care.
  • Demonstrate interest in working with cancer patients and families with commitment to ensure effective and compassionate delivery of patient focus care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate a strong professional presence with ability to maintain positive relationships with other health care team professionals and able to contribute to the development of an environment conducive to excellent patient care.
  • Responsible and energetic individual with ability to prioritize and organize activity in a busy environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with clinical and administrative stakeholders.
