Slegg Building Materials (Langford, BC) is hiring a Delivery Helper to assist with safe transportation of building materials and on-site placement. Shifts are Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3pm, with a wage range of CAD 22–25 per hour plus piecework.

As part of the GMS family, you will support customer satisfaction, coordinate with dispatch, and help maintain safety standards while delivering to job sites and assisting warehouse staff as needed.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license and clean driving record are assets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills for handling measurements and pricing.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools is helpful.
• Completion of high school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver materials to the assigned area while prioritizing safety.
• Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers on job sites.
• Ensure timely delivery and maintain safety, service, and efficiency.
• Coordinate with dispatch and resolve issues as they arise.
• Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.
• Report all accidents or injuries.
• Verify load security and accuracy.
• Represent the company positively with employees and customers.
• Follow all company policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and customer-focused individual for the position of Delivery Helper. The Delivery Helper assists with the safe transportation of building materials and the placement on customer job sites. Together with other team members, the Helper works to exceed customer expectations. The shifts are Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3pm and the wage range is $22-$25 per hour plus piecework.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver materials to the assigned area as directed by the customer while prioritizing personal safety and the safety of those around you.
• Communicate professionally with customers, co-workers, and other trades on job sites.
• Deliver materials to the satisfaction of customers and maintain an emphasis on safety, service, and efficiency.
• Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve issues as they arise.
• Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.
• Report all accidents or injuries.
• Verify load security and accuracy.
• Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers.
• Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Basic Requirements

• A valid driver’s license with a cleandriver's abstractis an asset.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics.
• Basic hand tool skills.
• Completion of high school preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs.
• Sitting for long periods.
• Frequently climbing up and downstairs.
• Pulling, pushing, bending, and torso twisting movements to transfer building materials between truck and job site.
