Job summary

Calgary Co-op is hiring a Deli Utility Clerk to provide excellent customer service, maintain a safe and efficient deli operation, and uphold company policies. The role covers stocking, merchandizing, pricing, cleanliness, health and safety, and basic cash handling.

Experience in bakery retail is preferred, and fluent English is required. The position reports to the Deli Supervisor/Manager and involves food prep support where applicable, plus adherence to liquor regulations where relevant.

Qualifications

• Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Bakery retail or related retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests and complaints.
• Performs all aspects of the Deli Utility function including stocking displays and facing in an organized manner.
• Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns.
• Performs general clean up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized department.
• Performs duties following Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies.
• Prepares deli platters and trays, operates roasters and, where applicable, performs cash handling procedures of the till.
• In stores with a Bistro, assists with customer service and/or food preparation when required.
