Job summary

City of Brampton is seeking a Deck Supervisor to supervise and train staff, deliver engaging aquatic programs, and ensure safety and compliance at City Hall.

The role requires relevant Lifesaving Society certifications, a minimum of 1 year as Swim Instructor and Lifeguard, and availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays. This temporary part-time position offers varied hours and opportunities to contribute to community programs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Minimum 1 year experience as Swim Instructor and Lifeguard.
• Hold current Lifesaving Society certifications listed in requirements.
• Ability to obtain required certifications within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach and evaluate staff.
• Assist with promotion of programs.
• Develop, deliver and document staff training and meetings.
• Plan, organize and deliver high quality, safe and engaging programs for all levels of participants.
• Ensure staff follow program plans and safety requirements.
• Maintain vigilance on duty and respond to emergencies.
• Handle program feedback and provide exceptional customer service.
• Complete administrative duties including staff schedules and incident/accident reports.
• Monitor equipment use, conduct inventory counts and restock as needed.
• Report concerns, accidents and incidents to the immediate supervisor for follow up.
• Understand department programs and services.
• Attend meetings/training as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Provide Lifeguard / Instructor support when necessary.
