Job summary

City of Brampton is seeking an Aquafit Instructor – Certified to deliver safe, engaging classes at City Hall for all participant levels. The role is temporary and part-time with evening, weekend and holiday hours, and a 24-hour workweek target.

You must hold Standard First Aid/CPR or equivalent, CALA/WaterArt or Group Fitness Instructor certification (or obtain within 1 month), be 16+, and demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Hold Standard First Aid/ CPR OR equivalent within 1 month of hire.
• Hold CALA, WaterArt, or Group Fitness Instructor certification OR equivalent; ability to obtain within 1 month of hire.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Preference for Brampton permanent residents.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and deliver safe, engaging Aquafit classes for all participant levels.
• Stay current with industry trends and new class formats.
• Maintain vigilance on duty and respond to emergencies as required.
• Deliver high-quality front-line customer service by greeting and engaging with participants.
• Complete administrative duties on time (lesson plans, attendance, incident and accident reports, statistics).
• Maintain a safe and tidy program space and ensure equipment is set up and stored properly.
• Report concerns, accidents and incidents to the supervisor and respond with appropriate action.
• Understand department programs and services.
• Attend required meetings and training sessions.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• The candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing and delivering safe, engaging and high-quality Aquafit classes for all participant levels.
• The candidate will stay current with industry trends and new class formats.
• The candidate will be responsible for maintaining complete vigilance while on duty and responding to any emergency situation as required.
• The candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality front-line customer service by greeting and engaging with participants.
• The candidate must complete all administrative duties on time, including lesson plans, attendance, incident and accident reports, statistics and worksheets.
• The candidate will maintain a safe and tidy program space and ensure that equipment is set up and stored appropriately.
• The candidate must report all concerns, accidents and incidents to the immediate supervisor for follow-up and respond with appropriate action.
• The candidate will maintain an understanding of department programs and services.
• The candidate must understand and comply with Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards and enforce them for all participants and staff.
• The candidate must attend required meetings and training sessions.
• The candidate will be responsible for completing other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be at least 16 years of age.
• The candidate must hold Current Standard First Aid / CPR OR Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED from an accredited organization, or have the ability to obtain it within 1 month of date of hire.
• The candidate must hold one of the following certifications: CALA, WaterArt certification or equivalent from an accredited organization, or Current Group Fitness Instructor certification or equivalent from an accredited organization. The candidate must also have the ability to obtain the applicable certification within 1 month of hire.
• The candidate must have exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Preference will be given to students who have permanent residency in Brampton.

Security and safety

• The candidate must have a valid Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) or a Vulnerable Sector Check if they are 18 years of age or older, issued by their local police department within the last six (6) months for employment purposes.
