Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Academic and Student Experience, the Dean, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship ( CTLS ) provides leadership and strategic planning for a wide range of academic matters related to academic leadership program growth and quality assurance, academic research and scholarly activity, and excellence in learning and teaching.
The Dean, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship contributes to the overall leadership of the institution by championing a strong culture of teaching excellence and academic integrity. The incumbent provides mentoring, leadership, and guidance to promote a climate of continuous learning, skill development, customer service, and student success in cooperation with Schools and Departments.

Position Responsibilities
The Dean, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship has direct accountability for the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship, Program Quality Assurance, and the Research Common. The Dean ensures excellence in teaching and learning is achieved and creates a culture of research and scholarship for students, faculty, and staff.
The Dean, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship liaises with internal and external stakeholders, provides guidance to key polytechnic and academic committees, and carries out other roles and projects as directed by the Vice President Academic and Student Experience.
Required Qualifications
As the Dean, you will possess at a minimum a relevant master’s degree from a recognized institution plus 5-7 years of related experience in adult education and lifelong learning, a PhD from a recognized institution is preferred.
You will have at a minimum 10 years’ experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in preferably in a post-secondary environment, including direct supervision of faculty and staff (recruitment, selection, and performance coaching). You will have demonstrated change leadership and effective implementation of strategy and tolerance for ambiguity and reasonable risk taking.
You must reside, or be willing and able to relocate to Red Deer, Alberta, Canada or its surrounding local municipalities for this role.
