Job summary

TELUS Health in Edmonton seeks an experienced Pension Implementation Analyst to translate Defined Benefit rules into precise software configurations and to act as the technical bridge between clients and the project team. You’ll write specifications, support QA, and ensure calculations match client plans.

In this role you will become a subject matter expert after go-live, providing ongoing support to guarantee the pension software delivers exactly what the plan promises.

Qualifications

  • University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or finance.
  • 5+ years' experience in Defined Benefit pension administration, consulting and/or implementation.
  • Ability to understand and use current computer technologies and a good knowledge of Excel software.
  • Analytical and summarizing skills, sense of organization and flexibility in terms of managing multiple projects.
  • Good initiative and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work both as a team and independently.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed analysis of our clients' Defined Benefit pension plan calculation rules.
  • Act as the link between the client and the project team in terms of pension plan calculations.
  • Configure in-house software to suit the specifics of the client's pension plan.
  • Write specifications according to the needs and requests of the clients regarding new developments of the software.
  • Ensure the proper integration of the software with other software that will be implemented for the client.
  • Participate in the development of the specific testing strategy for software configuration and new developments.
  • Participate in the review of test scenarios with the selection criteria required by the plan.
  • Provide support to the quality assurance team.
  • Collaborate in the development of the software by providing suggestions for improvement to the responsible team.
  • Once the implementation is complete, provide customer service to users to ensure effective management of the software.

You will not just be analyzing requirements; you will be hands-on, actually configuring the internal software to match the specific calculation rules of clients across North America. You'll spend your time translating dense financial rules into technical specs and then partnering with QA teams to make sure every amount is calculated perfectly.

This is a high-stakes role where you will act as the primary link between the client's needs and the project team's delivery. Once the system is live, you will transition into a subject matter expert providing critical support to ensure everything runs smoothly. Ultimately, you are the person responsible for ensuring the software does exactly what the pension plan promises. What You Bring
