Job summary

Riverstone Retirement Communities in Ottawa is seeking an experienced registered nurse to support the director of care in planning, delivering, and evaluating resident care within the nursing department. You will ensure high quality care for residents and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct regular nursing assessments, administer medications, supervise PSW/HCA staff, and participate in care-plan development.

Qualifications

• Two years or more experience, preferably in a geriatric setting.
• Excellent communication skills and supervisory abilities.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and evaluating resident care in the nursing department.
• Deliver and receive shift reports at start and end of each shift.
• Develop and implement care plans for residents; review and revise as needed.
• Perform initial and ongoing nursing assessments of residents.
• Administer and supervise medications as ordered.
• Assist residents with personal care.
• Document unusual symptoms or observations.
• Coordinate with physicians and families as required.
• Provide orientation to new hires and supervise PSW/HCA.
• Manage department in absence of Director of Care.
