Job summary

Kids & Company in New Westminster, BC is seeking a full-time daycare chef to lead daily kitchen operations and cooking for multiple centres. You will ensure safe food handling and prepare meals for children, including those with allergies, while managing weekly orders and inventory.

The role requires 2–4 years of chef experience, a valid driver’s license, and a clear criminal record. You will work under the Centre Director to support nutritious meals across our programs.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience as a Sous Chef or Chef.
• Experience in a daycare or long-term care environment is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Clear criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all meals, including cooking, baking, and food preparation for delivery to daycare centres.
• Ensure safe food storage and daily temperature logs.
• Prepare meals for children with allergies or special diets.
• Maintain records of children’s allergens.
• Manage weekly food orders and kitchen equipment.
• Monitor costs by reducing waste and controlling inventory.
• Comply with health, hygiene and food safety regulations.
• Oversee dishwashing and cleaning of kitchen areas.
• Prepare food for field trips and community events.
• Occasionally deliver prepared food to daycare centres.
• Perform additional duties to support daycare centres.
