Job summary

Kids & Company is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations in a daycare setting. You will assist with meal and snack portioning, delivery to classrooms, and general kitchen tasks following safety standards.

Responsibilities include food prep, organizing supplies, dish washing, and maintaining a clean, sanitary work area. Experience in childcare environments is preferred, with a valid Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Kitchen Assistant role.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Current Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain it.
• Experience in a daycare environment is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.
• A clean criminal record check is required.
• Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 45 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal and snack portioning, and delivery to classrooms, ensuring food is distributed safely and on time.
• Assist with food preparation tasks such as fruit preparation, and other kitchen support duties as assigned.
• Prepare and organize meal service supplies, including bins, serving materials, and delivery carts.
• Collect dishes, utensils, and meal service equipment from classrooms.
• Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, serving equipment, and food trolleys in accordance with food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen by cleaning work areas, equipment, storage areas, and meal service items.
• Assist with organizing, storing, and rotating food products, kitchen supplies, and inventory.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergy-awareness, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the Cook and Centre Director to support efficient kitchen operations.
• Perform other related duties as required to support the overall operation of the kitchen.
