Reporting to the Site Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing software, hardware, and communication support for the AS400, peripherals, Data Centre, and the overall Distribution Centre with respect to SCAN applications. This position also involves performing administrative functions within the SCAN database to direct workflow, monitor requisitions and supplies, and troubleshoot issues. Additionally, the role includes supporting the implementation and maintenance of LAN/WAN and Server infrastructure in a warehouse environment, providing administrative and technical support for an AS/400, Windows 2008/2012, and RF environment. The position also offers 2nd level support for the systems infrastructure.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate SCAN database records daily, ensuring timely updates, modifications, and deletions.
- Provide administrative support for SCAN systems, including monitoring supplies, coordinating equipment repairs, arranging service calls, remaking barcode labels, and testing barcodes.
- Assist with special projects related to SCAN, such as inventory preparation.
- Support Data Centre operations as needed.
- Manage systemic printer assignments and maintain/purge Norand and CK31 listings.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, transaction anomalies, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure new hires, transfers, and temporary staff are entered into the SCAN database.
- Maintain backup tape logs and forward them daily to the Home Office.
- Support testing and deployment of WMI system enhancements and rollouts.
- Provide technical support for Distribution Centre personnel and other IT functions, including server and network infrastructure maintenance.
- Ensure system stability through regular maintenance, testing, and technology updates.
- Support and administer hand scanners and peripheral devices.
- Provide on-call support as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- OSSD Grade 12 or equivalent; diploma in Computer Systems, Systems Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in data entry and/or systems administration.
- Knowledge of Data Centre and Receiving operations within Distribution Services or logistics.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation.
- Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office, spreadsheets, and email.
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships across departments.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Customer service skills, including inquiry response and needs assessment.
- Proficiency in navigating SCAN menus and generating operational reports.
