Job summary

Intact seeks data scientist interns for the Winter 2027 term in a hybrid role based in Canada. You will translate multi‑source data into actionable insights and produce production‑quality ML code in Python.

You will contribute to AI‑enabled products, explore new methods, and communicate findings to diverse stakeholders. Open to students in related fields with strong analytical skills and learning mindset.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a field related to AI, data science, CS, mathematics or statistics.
• Available to work 35 hours per week, hybrid mode, Winter 2027 term (Jan–Apr).
• Must be an active student during internship and returning to school in Summer/Fall 2027.
• No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Previous internship or work experience in data science, AI, ML is an asset.
• Strong curiosity, problem‑solving skills, and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication with a self‑reliant, ownership mindset.
• Adaptability and commitment to continuous learning.

Salary for the candidate

will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

We are looking for Data Scientist interns for our growing team!

What you’ll do here:

• Translate complex, multi-source datasets into clear, business-ready insights, recommendations, and measurable impact.
• Build production-quality analytical and ML code (Python), using modern libraries and best practices (testing, version control, reproducibility) to deliver robust technical outcomes.
• Contribute to applied research and development that advances AI-enabled products - prototyping, experimenting, and validating approaches that solve real business problems.
• Explore and evaluate cutting-edge methods across the fast-evolving AI landscape (e.g., machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, geospatial analytics), and translate promising ideas into practical solutions.
• Work hands‑on with diverse data modalities - geomatics/geospatial, telematics/time‑series, text, and images - linking patterns in the data to operational and strategic business decisions.
• Communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through concise narratives, visualizations, and well‑documented deliverables that support product and business roadmaps.

What you bring to the table:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in a field related to artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or any other related field.
• Available to work with us full-time, 35 hours per week, for the Winter 2027 Term in hybrid mode (January to April).
• Must be an active student during your internship and/or returning to school in next Summer or Fall 2027 following your internship.
• No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Previous internship or work experience in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning is an asset.
• Strong curiosity, problem-solving skills, and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with a self-reliant and strong‑ownership mindset.
• Adaptability and commitment to continuous learning.
