Job summary

Pason Systems Corp. is seeking a Data Science Intern for a 16‑month program from May 2027 to August 2028. You will analyze IoT sensor data, develop data analytics and ML solutions, and work with control systems designers in an applied research setting.

You will learn how data science is used in real-world industrial applications, participate in team discussions, and present prototypes to sales, engineering, and management teams. Hybrid work arrangement is available.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in 3rd year studies in Electrical, Computer, Software or Geomatics Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Demonstrated programming ability in at least one of Matlab, Python, Java, or SQL.
• Experience with data analytics, ML, or signal processing is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design algorithms to clean, aggregate, and analyze sensor data for performance analysis and optimization.
• Develop standalone and web-based data analytics applications.
• Create real-time signal processing and control loop algorithms and test on historical and live data.
• Learn and apply machine learning techniques to oilfield data.

Job description

Pason is seeking a Data Science Intern in our Research team for a 16-month internship from May 2027 until August 2028. You will use your strong analytical and programming skills to extract meaningful insights from IoT-based sensor data. Your responsibilities will include developing data analytics, signal processing, machine learning, and control loop algorithms. You will work with a talented group of algorithm and control system designers in an applied research setting.

This is an opportunity to learn how data science works in a real-world industrial application.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design algorithms which clean, aggregate, and analyze data from industrial process sensors for the purposes of performance analysis, event detection, and process optimization.
• Design, test, and deploy standalone and web-based software applications for data analytics.
• Design real-time signal processing and control loop algorithms and test their performance on historical sensor data as well as live field trials.
• Learn state-of-the‑art machine learning techniques and perform experiments to determine how they are best applied to petroleum oilfield data.
• Work with Pason account managers to solve mathematical and statistical analysis problems for high-priority customers.
• Participate in team technical discussions, research paper reviews, and propose novel ideas to solve challenging engineering problems.
• Present product prototypes to sales, engineering, and/or management teams.
