Job summary

Big Viking Games is building a new Head of Data Science & Analytics to lead the data function. This hands-on leader will own analytics, partner with executives, and shape data strategy across product, live operations, monetization, and marketing.

The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution, eventual team-building, and a focus on AI-enabled analytics to improve decision making and productivity. Hybrid in-office 3 days/week in Toronto.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data science, analytics, BI, or related data discipline.
• Experience in gaming, digital product, SaaS, or live-service environments.
• Strong SQL and hands-on with Python, R, or similar tools.
• Able to translate business questions into structured analysis and exec narratives.
• Experience building dashboards, KPI frameworks, and decision-support tools.
• Understanding product analytics, user behavior, retention, monetization, and forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the company’s data science and analytics function from the ground up.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to turn questions into insights and action plans.
• Develop analytics roadmap across player behavior, monetization, content performance, and business performance.
• Perform hands-on analysis: SQL, dashboarding, data modeling, KPI development, reporting, and statistical analysis.
• Improve metrics quality, definitions, and reporting reliability.
• Identify data gaps and improve data pipelines, governance, and access to trusted datasets.
• Design dashboards and executive reporting to guide decisions.
• Lead analyses on lifecycle, monetization trends, and live-service operations.
• Support A/B testing, measurement frameworks, and decision-ready analyses for initiatives.
• Implement AI-driven solutions to accelerate workflows and automate reporting.
• Explore and deploy AI agents and workflow automations to boost productivity.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI, privacy, and repeatable workflows.
