Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work with Lead Data Stewards, Data Stewards, and other data practitioners to maintain high data quality standards.
- Act as the subject matter expert for DQ Quality Monitoring and be the face to the business.
- Quality Monitoring:
- Create, support, and monitor automated threshold-based reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Lead Data Stewards and Data Stewards to resolve findings promptly.
- Data Quality Investigations:
- Analyze and evaluate data quality issues, clarify them, and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct root cause assessments to determine remediation strategies, possibly at the source.
- Data Transformation:
- Run validation routines comparing results between legacy and cloud systems during business transformation projects.
- Identify DQ failures in the ecosystem.
- Data Quality Reporting:
- Develop mechanisms to monitor and report DQ activities frequently.
- Analyze data to improve DQ across the organization.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Work with various stakeholders and the Canada Data Team to refine and implement data quality processes and requirements.
- Provide data quality assurance for support teams and maintain documentation and knowledge base.
Expertise and Qualifications
- Collibra DQ Tool Management: Expertise in managing Collibra DQ tools.
- Protected-B Clearance: Must be ready to obtain Protected-B Clearance from the RCMP.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Data Science, Data Management, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Experience: Proven experience in data quality, data profiling, and data cleansing.
Role Profile
- Collaboration: Work with various platform and business teams/domains to enable data quality roll-out.
- Innovation: The specialist should be tenacious, creative, curious, and have an appetite for growth and innovation.
- Data Quality Issue Management: Responsible for investigating, correcting, and preventing data issues.
- Implementation: Collaborate with teams to implement DQ and relevant Data Governance standards and best practices.
- Reviewing Critical Data Elements (CDEs): Review CDEs for DQ dimensions, rules, and thresholds.
- Adherence to Policies: Follow Canada Life’s Data Policy, Data Quality resources, Information classification and handling standards, Privacy guidelines, and other related policies.
- Direct Collaboration: Work directly with business partners and other stakeholders for DQ implementation.
Data Quality Process
- Standards and Procedures: Create standards, procedures, guidelines, and templates for DQ implementation.
- Registration Process: Develop a registration process for CDEs and other related data elements with attestations and controls.
- Process Improvements: Identify improvements in the DQ process.
Data Quality Tool
- Embedding DQ Process: Embed DQ processes in the DQ tool.
- DQ Runs: Create and implement DQ runs (testing & monitoring) including remediation processes.
- Support Role Alignment: Support business teams in using Collibra and other DQ tooling solutions.
Deliverables
- Project Support: Provide support for various projects related to data quality.
