Job summary

Benevity is seeking a Manager of Data Governance to lead the data governance program across the organization. You will define ownership, stewardship, access controls, and data quality standards, partnering with product, design, and engineering to translate policy into practice.

You will guide DataHub operations, evaluate tools like Collibra or Alation, and establish SLAs, health scores, and audits to ensure trusted data for the business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or closely related field, with at least 2 years in a people or program leadership role.
• Hands-on experience operating a data catalog or metadata management platform. DataHub is strongly preferred; familiarity with Collibra/Alation/Atlan is a plus.
• Experience with data observability and quality tooling (Monte Carlo/Lightup/Great Expectations/dbt).
• Familiarity with privacy and entitlement governance platforms (OneTrust/Privacera or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Data Governance function, setting the strategic direction for data ownership, stewardship policy, access governance, and data classification standards across the organization.
• Own and operate DataHub as the living catalog of the organization's data assets, covering metadata management, catalog onboarding, tagging, lineage registration, and domain stewardship.
• Extend the governance toolchain by evaluating and deploying Collibra, Alation, Atlan for policy management and business glossary; Monte Carlo or Lightup for data observability; OneTrust or Privacera for privacy governance; Great Expectations or dbt for quality rule enforcement.
• Own the enterprise Data Quality Framework, defining six quality dimensions: Completeness, Accuracy, Timeliness, Consistency, Validity, Uniqueness.
• Classify every data asset into Tier 1-3 with SLAs and enforcement standards published and visible in DataHub.
• Define and publish a data health score methodology; domain health scores visible in the catalog and reported monthly.
