Job summary

COFOMO, a leading Canadian consulting firm in Montreal, seeks a Data Governance and Architecture Advisor to design and implement the organization's data governance framework on-site.

You will define roles, policies, taxonomy and data quality metrics; map data flows across systems; and lead workshops with stakeholders to advance enterprise-wide data governance and digital transformation.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in data management or data governance.
• Significant experience in taxonomy and data nomenclature.
• Master concepts related to data quality and data classification.
• Experience in requirements gathering, analysis and documentation.
• Experience performing inventories in loosely structured environments.
• Contribute to enterprise-wide data governance framework.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the organization's data governance framework.
• Define roles, responsibilities, policies, standards, processes and controls related to data management.
• Establish an accountability model for data owners and custodians.
• Develop corporate taxonomy, nomenclature and business vocabulary of data.
• Standardize definitions and naming conventions to ensure consistency.
• Perform inventory of the organization's data assets.
• Document data sources, their provenance, transformations, uses and owners.
• Map data flows between applications, databases, interfaces, and reports.
• Identify the master systems for each data domain.
• Define data quality indicators and associated control mechanisms.
• Analyze data quality issues, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
• Recommend and prioritize fixes and required improvements.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to promote the adoption of best practices.
• Raise awareness of data governance and effective data management.
• Advise business and technology teams on the use and valorization of data.
• Participate in digital transformation initiatives involving information assets.
