Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Global Technology Services - Enterprise Process Management & Compliance’s IT Service Management (ITSM)’s Governance, Data Analytics & Reporting globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytics Technology & Engineering, you will be a senior technical contributor to the overall success of the ITSM by ensuring goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The role conducts all activities in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
- You will develop and maintain Data Engineering pipelines, Business Intelligence (BI), and analytics solutions. You will also complete engineering and architecture deliverables and provide technical consultation and direction to team members. The scope of solutions includes Windows/Web-based applications, complex workflows, automation scripts, ETL solutions, executive dashboards, and more. All solutions will follow technology policies, processes, and procedures. The role will also provide use cases and requirements to feeder systems to capture data for use by the ITSM team.
- When required, you may need to work evenings and/or weekends to complete deliverables.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and culture should influence day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of business controls to meet operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.

Education / Experience / Other Information
- Demonstrates above-average communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex ideas from various sources.
- At least 3-4 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining data-driven solutions, including data modeling, database design, BI, ETL, and data visualization.
- At least 3+ years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Database Designer, or Data Architect, involving performance tuning of queries and ETL processes.
- At least 3+ years of experience in writing requirements, architecture, or governance documents related to application management.
- At least 2+ years of experience creating reports using MS Excel, PowerBI, DAX, or Power Query.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, R, VBA, or other scripting/object-oriented languages.
- At least 2+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira, Bitbucket, Git, Confluence.
- At least 1+ year of experience with predictive analysis and machine learning (preferred).
- Ability to troubleshoot BI modeling issues and develop solutions.
- Experience leading through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Exposure to Large Language Models (LLM), GCP, or other cloud technologies is a plus.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
