Purpose of Job

The Lead Data Engineer, Digital Banking will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of our Digital Banking data platform. The role requires providing technical leadership to a team of data engineers, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the efficient flow, storage, and integration of data within EQB’s Digital Bank.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of system architecture, particularly Microsoft Fabric and Azure tools, and have proven experience in implementing medallion architecture. Additionally, they should be well-versed in best practices in data engineering to ensure scalability and governance, driving innovation and efficiency in data solutions.

Data Engineering Expert
  • You are a subject matter expert in the field of Data Engineering and a champion of the Digital Bank’s data strategy.
  • Develop and recommend innovative approaches to solve business and technical problems.
  • Engage and align cross-functional stakeholders and teams to deliver data solutions.
  • Manage project timelines to ensure timely delivery of data solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers in implementing best practices of the field and supporting their professional growth.
  • Promote a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and innovation.
Design, Develop and Maintain Data solutions
  • You leverage your engineering expertise and align to the values of building quality products and risk management to create value from data.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines (batch and real-time) for data ingestion, processing, and integration.
  • Develop and maintain data storage solutions, ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage in data Lakehouse and Warehouses.
  • Implement and maintain API integrations, including REST APIs, for seamless data flow between systems.
  • Implement and ensure data security and privacy measures, complying with industry standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of systems and pipelines.
  • Improve the scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of data solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 7+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, specifically working with Microsoft Fabric & Azure technologies.
  • Highly proficient in T-SQL, Python, and Spark programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of data storage architecture with lakehouse and data warehouse concepts and best practices.
  • Solid understanding of information architecture with medallion design concepts and best practices.
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Experience working with high and low latency data movement (batch and real-time data).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Your nice-to-have skills!
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure/Fabric Data Engineer Associate or Azure/Fabric Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Experience in implementing DevOps pipelines and CI/CD for data solutions.
  • Experience in writing data quality and governance tests for management of data.
  • Experience working in the financial industry.
