Job summary

Astra-North Infoteck Inc. in Toronto – Hybrid is seeking a Sr. IFRS17 Data Engineer to lead data engineering initiatives in the insurance domain.

You will design and optimize ETL pipelines, work with PySpark, SQL, Python, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant IFRS17 solutions. The role requires hands-on IFRS17 experience, strong analytics, and leadership to mentor engineers, guide architecture decisions, and ensure scalable, high‑performant backend systems in a cloud

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on IFRS17 experience with strong Data Analysis and Insurance domain knowledge.
• Strong expertise in Data Analysis, SQL, Python, and PySpark.
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

Sr. IFRS17 Data Engineer (C#, SQL, MVC, WPF)

Location: Toronto – Hybrid (4 Days WFO)
Duration: 12 Months

Job Description

• Must have hands-on IFRS17 experience with strong Data Analysis and Insurance domain knowledge.
  
• Good to have exposure to Dataiku.
  
• Strong expertise in Data Analysis, SQL, Python, and PySpark.
  
• Develop and maintain backend systems using Python and PySpark, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
  
• Design and implement Data Engineering and ETL pipelines using PySpark.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements.
  
• Mentor and guide engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and best practices.
  
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and frameworks to improve systems and processes.
  
• Lead technical direction including architecture, design, and implementation of software solutions.
  
• Work closely with Product Owners to define and prioritize business and technical requirements.
  
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
  
• Participate in code reviews to ensure coding standards and high-quality deliverables.
  
• Collaborate with DevOps and Operations teams for smooth deployment and application support.
  
• Strong expertise in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
