Job summary

CAE is seeking a data engineer to develop and maintain ETL pipelines, design robust data workflows, and ensure data availability for analysts and reporting teams.

You will collaborate with analytics and business teams in a hybrid work environment, contributing to safety and simulation efforts with modern data tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ETL processes using Microsoft SSIS and/or Microsoft Fabric Data Pipelines
• Design and optimize workflows to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for business analysts and reporting teams.
• Collaborate with analysts to deliver modelled data, dashboards, and reports.
• Troubleshoot and support existing data pipelines and integrations

Required Skills/Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (preferably with a focus on Data Science and Analytics) or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience with SQL, including writing and optimizing complex queries.
• Understanding of ETL concepts and data pipeline design.
• Ability to work collaboratively with analytics and business teams.
• Completed Data Science coursework or certification

Preferred Skills

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft SSIS, Microsoft Fabric, or similar ETL tools.
• Familiarity with IBM Cognos, Power BI, or other BI/reporting tools.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with common Data Science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn)
• Knowledge of data modelling and data warehouse concepts.
• Interest in data analytics and visualization.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2-3 years of data engineering experience
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Clearance and Level II NATO Secret security clearance
• Legal authorization to work in Canada as a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or holder of a valid Work Permit
