Job summary

CAE Inc. is seeking a data engineer to join our global team focused on safety and simulation. You will develop and maintain data pipelines, optimize ETL workflows, and ensure data quality to empower business analysts and reporting teams.

The role requires strong SQL, ETL concepts, and collaboration with analytics groups. A CS degree and data science coursework, plus experience with SSIS/Fabric or BI tools, are preferred. We offer a hybrid work environment and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS with data science/analytics focus or equivalent.
  • Strong SQL skills with ability to optimize complex queries.
  • Understanding ETL concepts and data pipelines.
  • Ability to collaborate with analytics and business teams.
  • Completed Data Science coursework or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ETL processes using Microsoft SSIS and/or Fabric Data Pipelines.
  • Design and optimize workflows to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for business analysts and reporting teams.
  • Collaborate with analysts to deliver modeled data, dashboards, and reports.
  • Troubleshoot and support existing data pipelines and integrations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes using Microsoft SSIS and/or Microsoft Fabric Data Pipelines
  • Design and optimize workflows to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for business analysts and reporting teams.
  • Collaborate with analysts to deliver modelled data, dashboards, and reports.
  • Troubleshoot and support existing data pipelines and integrations
Required Skills/Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (preferably with a focus on Data Science and Analytics) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with SQL, including writing and optimizing complex queries.
  • Understanding of ETL concepts and data pipeline design.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with analytics and business teams.
  • Completed Data Science coursework or certification
Preferred Skills
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SSIS, Microsoft Fabric, or similar ETL tools.
  • Familiarity with IBM Cognos, Power BI, or other BI/reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with common Data Science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn)
  • Knowledge of data modelling and data warehouse concepts.
  • Interest in data analytics and visualization.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of data engineering experience
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Clearance and Level II NATO Secret security clearance
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada as a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or holder of a valid Work Permit
