About this opportunity

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a team responsible for integrating expert knowledge, statistical and machine learning models in the treatment plans. You will work in close collaboration with colleagues from a larger Treatment Planning group and with clinical experts, focusing on developing data storage and pipelines for machine learning solutions for orthodontic problems.

As a Data Engineer, you will design and implement solutions for integrating data, components, and models with production treatment planning workflows. In this role, you will…

  1. Work in an agile team of developers, analysts and SDETs, and collaborate with other development teams.
  2. Develop cloud native data storage, and pipelines for feeding machine learning solutions in both cloud and non-cloud environments.
  3. Interact closely with clinical experts, project managers, and product owners to understand problems, analyze specifications, formalize functional requirements, and prepare and deliver technical presentations and demos.
  4. Research, prototype and implement solutions for extraction of specific data from existing CAD/CAM system and integration of model outcomes back into the pipelines.
  5. Participate in architectural design and project planning, design and sizing, and code and design reviews.
  6. Investigate and implement bug fixes and identify opportunities for reliability and performance improvements.
  7. Write technical documentation for newly implemented functionality.
  8. Follow architectural, quality, and regulatory guidelines for medical device software development, demonstrate technical leadership, assist and mentor other developers, and uphold high standards of trust, responsibility, and professionalism.
  9. Identify/mitigate risks and participate in production monitoring and support as needed.
In this role, you’ll need …

Bachelor or above degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, or Equivalent experience in commercial software development.

5+ years of experience in Data Engineering

Excellent knowledge and 5+ years of Python 3 development experience.

Good knowledge and 5+ years of SQL experience and working with relational and non-relational database engines.

5+ years of experience with building ETL/ELT pipelines.

Understanding Data Warehouse / Data Lake design principles and experience with schema design in accordance with popular methodologies (fact/dimensional, DataVault, etc); Working experience with AWS services (S3, EC2, SQS, Lambda, RDS, Redshift); Knowledge and experience of application of CI/CD best practices.

Solid working experience with Git, Docker.

Good level of speaking English proficiency: Intermediate+

System thinking.

Nice to haves...
  1. Experience with Databricks Delta Lakehouse, experience with Apache Spark (pySpark), understanding of principles of machine learning system design and participation experience in ML projects.
  2. Experience working in highly regulated industries (such as Banking, Financial, Healthcare, Medical Devices, Aerospace, etc.)
  3. Advanced knowledge of C++ or C#.
  4. Understanding and experience in machine learning or data analysis.
  5. Mathematical, CAD/CAM or 3D graphics background.
  6. Working knowledge of Git and Atlassian stack (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, etc.)
