Job summary

The Datacenter Technician is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the Datacenter, including installation, acceptance and maintenance of various Telecommunication equipment.

Tasks include installing cabinets, cross-connects, power circuits, remote hands, and project installation, testing and troubleshooting of telecom infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Manage all installs against aggressive schedules
• Ensure best practices in cabling and documentation; conform to TIA-942 and BICSI standards
• Install cable runs, patch panels and cross connects; perform cable lacing
• Install, provision, test and maintain DS0 through OC12 services and related equipment
• Assist in troubleshooting processes and repairs during events or equipment failure; make recommendations to prevent recurrence
• Validate equipment condition and follow PM schedules for generators, ATS, UPS, Chillers, Dry Coolers, CRAC/CRAH and related equipment
• Coordinate with vendors for preventive maintenance, capacity expansion, large customer installs
• Register customers and maintain SAE-16 security controls
• Monitor security, environmental and equipment monitoring systems
• Manage asset documentation and capacity tracking for MMR, MDF, IDF and cables
• Execute customer support requests from server reboot to complex telecom equipment troubleshooting
• Interact with customers, vendors, contractors and building management to ensure high customer satisfaction
• Participate in facilities audits, pre-sales engineering, post-incident reviews and operational reviews
