Job summary

Insight Global is hiring a data center technician in Canada. You will be the primary resolver for the team, troubleshooting hardware issues and maintaining documentation for the supported technologies.

You will pass knowledge to junior staff, work autonomously on tasks and small projects, and coordinate with other teams to meet deadlines in a hybrid/onsite setup.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of computer hardware experience including troubleshooting/repair.
  • 1+ years of network and operating system support experience, or Bachelor's degree or above in CS/CE or related field.
  • 2+ years of repair of material handling equipment experience.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system.
  • Experience with DNS/DHCP/TCP and Linux OS network troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary resolver for the support team and document technologies.
  • Pass down knowledge to junior staff and maintain documentation.
  • Resolve most complex hardware infrastructure issues, autonomously where possible.
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs and manage competing priorities.
  • Assist with remote system administration tasks in a virtual team.

As an Amazon Data Center Technician, you are a primary resolver for your support team, skilled at troubleshooting and resolving most complex hardware infrastructure issues. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and are able to effectively passdown knowledge of these technologies to junior staff. You have basic to intermediate system administration skills and, where applicable, are able to take on remote system administration tasks working in a virtual team. You have the ability to automate tasks with scripts when necessary. You work autonomously to resolve most support issues. You are able to execute small projects on your own, and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You act as the initial escalation point for junior technicians. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.

Skills and Requirements
  • 1+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing experience
  • 1+ years of network and operating system support experience, or Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
  • Experience deploying, managing, and optimizing Microsoft Windows Server, or experience in Linux and Networking protocols and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • 2+ years of repair of material handling equipment experience
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience in Network protocols like DNS/DHCP/TCP and experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional inputs, meeting deadlines, and effectively managing competing priorities
  • Bilingual - French/English
