Job summary

Aon plc is seeking a Data Analytics & Automation Engineer to design and deliver scalable analytics and automation solutions across Canada. You will collaborate with business leaders, analytics professionals, and technology teams to enable data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.

Lead the development of Power BI dashboards, Power Apps, and Power Automate workflows while building and governing data pipelines on Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure Data Services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, BI, or automation-focused roles.
• Experience developing solutions using Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SQL, and Python.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Services.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Data Analytics, or related field.

What the day will look like

As a Data Analytics & Automation Engineer, you will collaborate with business leaders, analytics professionals, operational collaborators, and technology teams. You will deliver scalable reporting, automation, and data solutions that support strategic decision-making. You'll play a meaningful role in developing and managing data platforms, automation technologies, and reporting capabilities that enable the business to operate more efficiently and effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

Analytics Solution Delivery

• Own the build, development, and delivery of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions.
• Interpret business requirements and develop scalable technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and self-service reporting capabilities.
• Partner with business leaders to identify reporting opportunities and drive adoption of analytics solutions.
• Deliver insights that support data-driven decision making across multiple business functions.

Power Platform Ownership

• Design, develop, and maintain Power Apps and Power Automate solutions.
• Establish and lead application lifecycle management (ALM) processes across development, testing, and production environments.
• Maintain deployment pipelines and solution release processes.
• Support governance, security, licensing, and Power Platform guidelines.
• Fix sophisticated platform issues and collaborate with Microsoft support where required.

Data Engineering & Platform Management

• Support and enhance analytical environments within Databricks and Snowflake.
• Design and maintain automated data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes.
• Develop and supervise scalable data pipelines.
• Improve accessibility and reliability of enterprise data assets.
• Support the ongoing enhancement of Aon's Data & Analytics Service Platform (DASP).

Business Process Automation

• Find opportunities to streamline and automate manual processes.
• Develop enterprise automation solutions using Power Automate and related technologies.
• Manage workflows supporting reporting, access provisioning, operational activities, and data management processes.
• Ensure all automation solutions align with governance, audit, and security standards.

Dashboard & Reporting Administration

• Administer dashboard publishing, distribution, and access management processes.
• Support reporting platforms, microsites, and content distribution solutions.
• Ensure reporting solutions remain secure, scalable, and reliable.
• Coordinate support and ownership transitions for reporting assets.

Customer Engagement & Governance

• Partner with operational leaders, broking teams, analytics professionals, and technology customers.
• Lead discovery sessions, solution workshops, and project planning activities.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.
• Maintain user documentation, operational procedures, and platform governance standards.
• Participate in ongoing platform support and issue resolution activities.

• Solid ability to translate business requirements into adaptable technical architectures and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
