The Team
CB Data Services manages the collective data assets for the Canadian Bank. The Data Services team designs and implements data storage, movement, and integration solutions to meet project needs and support the enterprise's long-term data strategy. We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst & Data Modeler to develop enterprise data models and data provisioning for target platforms, focusing on data analysis and architecture to optimize data flow and system performance.

- Collaborate with business users to gather and analyze data requirements from source systems.
- Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for operational and analytical purposes.
- Work with technical and application architects and developers to implement data architecture and solutions.
- Communicate database designs to database administrators for implementation.
- Analyze source data (structured and unstructured) and business requirements.
- Document data flows, sources, entities, relationships, and redundancies.
- Ensure data integrity and quality.
- Maintain and generate metadata for Hadoop ingestion and other frameworks.
- Define and document data structures, meanings, and uses, collaborating with departments and data stewards.
- Establish data architecture for databases, reporting, and provisioning platforms.
- Support data governance, standards, and quality initiatives across the enterprise.
- Research and recommend emerging technology solutions aligned with business strategies.
Skills and experience required:
- 10+ years in Data Management, analysis, modeling, architecture, and governance.
- Expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling, database design, and Erwin.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, and Hive (Hadoop).
- Knowledge of data architecture, patterns, and emerging technologies (RDBMS, Hadoop, Cloud).
- Experience with XML, JSON, Copybook, CSV ingestion.
- Financial services domain knowledge is a strong asset.
- Understanding of Data Governance processes, metadata, and lineage management; familiarity with tools like IGC, Collibra.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, with strong analytical skills.
- Experience creating architecture and strategy artifacts.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Knowledge of database administration, performance tuning, ETL processes, and data structures.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer engineering or information science.
