Job summary

CGIC is seeking a Data Analyst to join its Claims team in a hybrid role. You will analyze data to solve business problems, develop metrics, and deliver analytical solutions to enable storytelling and insights for the organization.

You will work with SQL, Python, and R, contributing across data extraction, cleaning, and modeling. A university degree in a related field is required and ACAS/FCAS assets are welcome; the position emphasizes collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence or related domain.
• University degree in BI, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent.
• ACAS or FCAS designations are assets.
• Experience solving standard problems by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgment and precedent.
• Good knowledge of data analysis, programming, modeling techniques, data warehousing and data management.
• Experience with SQL, Python, R, Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, Databricks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously perform descriptive and diagnostic analysis using recommended methods (e.g. regression, cohort analysis, cluster analysis, A/B testing, factor analysis).
• Design and develop metrics to enable descriptive and diagnostic analysis.
• Create proofs of concept and deliver prototypes for storytelling and descriptive/diagnostic analysis.
• Work on data querying (T-SQL, SQL, MySQL, etc.).
• Extract, clean, reconcile and prepare data required for analysis.
• Communicate findings to colleagues and manager clearly.

As Data Analyst, you actively contribute to various initiatives by analyzing data to solve business problems and providing valuable insights. You understand the insurance business domain and ensure your own tasks contribute to meeting the business objectives by applying appropriate methods and critical thinking and performing analysis.

How you will create impact:

To join our team:

• You have 3-5 years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence or other relevant domain.
• You have a University Degree in Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent technical experience.
• ACAS or FCAS designations are considered an asset.
• You have experience solving standard problems by analyzing possible solutions by using our experience, judgment and precedent & challenging status quo.
• You have good knowledge and understanding of data analysis, programing, modeling techniques, data warehouse and data management, research, architecture and design.
• Experience with the following technologies is required: Sql, Python, R, Microsoft Fabric
• Experience with the following technologies is an asset: Service now , Jira, Databricks

Salary information

Expected Salary range : CAD $60,574.00 to $100,956.00 CAD

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
