Job summary

CGIC in Canada’s Co-operators group is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Claims team. The role focuses on analyzing data to solve business problems, delivering insights, and supporting business objectives within a hybrid work model (2 days in office).

You will work on data querying, data preparation, and communicating findings to stakeholders. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years BI experience, a related university degree, and knowledge of SQL, Python, R, and Microsoft Fabric.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence or similar
• University degree in BI, CS, Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics or equivalent
• ACAS or FCAS designations are assets
• Experience solving standard problems using experience, judgment and precedent
• Knowledge of data analysis, programming, modeling techniques, data warehouse and data management
• Experience with SQL, Python, R, Microsoft Fabric
• Experience with ServiceNow, Jira and Databricks is an asset

Responsibilities

• Perform descriptive and diagnostic analysis using methods like regression, cohort, cluster analysis, A/B testing
• Design and develop metrics for descriptive and diagnostic analysis
• Prototype analytical solutions and deliver storytelling insights
• Query data with T-SQL, SQL, MySQL and related tools
• Extract, clean, reconcile, and prepare data for analysis
• Communicate findings clearly to colleagues and manager

As Data Analyst, you actively contribute to various initiatives by analyzing data to solve business problems and providing valuable insights. You understand the insurance business domain and ensure your own tasks contribute to meeting the business objectives by applying appropriate methods and critical thinking and performing analysis.

How You Will Create Impact

• Autonomously perform descriptive and diagnostic analysis using recommended methods (ex: regression, cohort analysis, cluster analysis, A/B testing, factor analysis).
• Design and develop metrics to enable descriptive analysis and diagnostic analysis.
• Autonomously design proof of concept and deliver with guidance a prototype analytical solution to enable effective storytelling and descriptive/diagnostic analysis.
• Work on Data querying (T-SQL, SQL, MySQL, etc.)
• Extract, clean, reconcile and prepare the data required for the analysis.
• Autonomously communicate findings to colleagues and your manager in an effective manner.

To Join Our Team

• You have 3-5 years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence or other relevant domain.
• You have a University Degree in Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent technical experience.
• ACAS or FCAS designations are considered an asset.
• You have experience solving standard problems by analyzing possible solutions by using our experience, judgment and precedent & challenging status quo.
• You have good knowledge and understanding of data analysis, programing, modeling techniques, data warehouse and data management, research, architecture and design.
• Experience with the following technologies is required: Sql, Python, R, Microsoft Fabric
• Experience with the following technologies is an asset: Service now , Jira, Databricks

Salary information

Expected Salary range : CAD $60,574.00 to $100,956.00 CAD

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
