Job summary

Qualifications

• ATPL (ICAO/TC) with Category 1 Medical is required.
• 500+ hours on DHC-8 is preferred; airline experience is an asset.
• Fluency in English with strong communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain transportation security clearances.
• Cultural awareness related to First Nations communities is an asset.
• Flexible, professional, with strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Physically capable to travel and work extended schedules.

Responsibilities

• Command Dash 8 flights in accordance with SOPs, CARs, the Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations Manual.
• Review weather and NOTAMs; determine fuel and oil requirements.
• Calculate weight and balance; review and accept the Operational Flight Plan (Type B, CAR 705).
• Complete thorough pre-flight inspections before every departure.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo/freight as required.
• Conduct flight watch with the Flight Dispatcher (Type B 705).
• Complete post-flight duties and log flight times/defects.
• Maintain Transport Canada qualification standards and perform assigned duties.

The mission

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Pilot, you will captain Dash 8 flights that carry thousands of passengers annually—prioritizing safety, passenger comfort, and on-time performance—while connecting remote Northern and First Nations communities with essential air service.

Where you'll fly

Operate scheduled passenger and freight services across Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario, 24/7 North American charter, and medical evacuation missions from multiple network bases. Expect flying in diverse weather and to remote airfields that demand precision and professionalism.

What you'll do

• Command Dash 8 flights in strict accordance with SOPs, Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), the Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations Manual.
• Review weather and all applicable NOTAMs; determine fuel and oil requirements.
• Calculate weight and balance; review, amend, and accept the Operational Flight Plan (Type B, CAR 705 operation).
• Complete thorough pre-flight inspections before every departure.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo/freight as required.
• Conduct flight watch jointly with the Flight Dispatcher (Type B 705 operation).
• Complete all post-flight duties, including notifying and confirming aircraft whereabouts when away from base, and recording flight times and defects.
• Maintain Transport Canada qualification standards and perform additional duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Licences & medical: Valid ATPL (ICAO/Transport Canada) required; Category 1 Medical; current Group 1 Instrument Rating.
• Experience: 500+ hours on the DHC-8 preferred; prior airline experience an asset.
• Clearances: Ability to obtain and maintain applicable transportation security clearances and authorizations.
• Communication: Fluency in English with strong verbal and listening comprehension.
• Cultural competency: Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset; a high level of respect and regard for First Nations communities is essential.
