Job summary

Perimeter Aviation seeks a Dash 8-705 Captain to lead safe, reliable operations across Canada, transporting passengers on scheduled, charter, and medevac missions. You will ensure safety, comfort, and on-time performance while upholding company standards.

You will manage flight planning, weather analysis, NOTAM reviews, fuel calculations, and weight-and-balance, and perform pre- and post-flight duties with a focus on regulatory compliance and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Licensing: Category 1 Medical and Group 1 Instrument Rating.
  • Pilot Licence: ATPL (ICAO); 500 hours on the DHC-8 preferred.
  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training is assets.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct flights in accordance with SOPs and regulations.
  • Prepare full flight plans: weather, NOTAMs, fuel, weight & balance.
  • Perform thorough pre-flight inspections.
  • Load, unload and secure cargo per standards.
  • Coordinate with flight dispatcher and maintain comms.
  • Complete post-flight duties and reporting.
  • Maintain Transport Canada qualification standards and perform additional duties.

Job description

The Opportunity

As a Dash 8 705 Captain with Perimeter Aviation, you’ll lead safe, reliable operations that connect communities and deliver essential services across Canada. You’ll transport thousands of passengers annually while upholding the highest standards of safety, passenger comfort, and on‑time performance—across scheduled, charter, and medevac missions.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct all flights in strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual, and Company Operations Manual.
  • Own the full spectrum of flight preparation: review weather and applicable NOTAMs, determine fuel and oil requirements, calculate aircraft weight-and-balance, and review, amend, and accept the Operational Flight Plan for the Type B 705 operation.
  • Complete thorough aircraft pre‑flight inspections before each departure.
  • Load, unload, and secure cargo or freight as required to company standards.
  • Conduct joint flight watch with the flight dispatcher and maintain effective operational communication.
  • Execute post‑flight duties: confirm aircraft location when away from base, record flight times and defects, and complete all required reporting.
  • Continually meet or exceed Transport Canada qualification standards and perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Licensing & Medical: Category 1 Medical and current Group 1 Instrument Rating.
  • Pilot Licence: Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL, ICAO); 500 hours on the DHC-8 preferred.
  • Previous airline experience and Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training are considered assets.
  • Fluent in English with strong verbal and listening comprehension.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain all applicable transportation security clearances and authorizations.

Working Conditions
  • Flexible scheduling with extended travel as operationally required.
