Job summary

Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist, Cytogenetics, to join the Diagnostic Medical Genetics Lab. You will perform cytogenetics and molecular testing using cutting-edge platforms and collaborate with geneticists, counselors, and bioinformaticians to support patient care.

You will work with NovaSeq X Plus and DRAGEN pipelines, mastering diverse techniques from NGS to FISH, MLPA, CGH, and more.

Qualifications

• CSMLS cytogenetics/molecular genetics dual license required.
• Current good standing with CMLTO.
• Eligible to write upcoming Clinical Genetics CSMLS exam.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular and cytogenetics procedures per SOPs.
• Rotate through bench areas to master techniques.
• Report cytogenetic findings using ISCN nomenclature.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of results.
• Perform quality control and troubleshooting.
• Accession and process specimens per SOPs.
• Prioritize work and handle urgent demands.
• Prepare reagents, QC materials and assist inventory control.
• Contribute to method evaluation and validation testing.
• Follow QA/QMS processes and policies.
• Orientate and train new staff or students.
