We are looking for an experienced cybersecurity incident responder who can manage incidents at Tier 3 level and who is experienced in investigating cybersecurity incidents using incident response tools. The Cybersecurity Analyst – Incident Response role will also support internal fraud and financial crime investigations where there is a cyber element. This position has an on-call rotation to provide prompt response to mitigate impact, 24/7.

The candidate will have experience with Information Technology and a solid knowledge of Cybersecurity principles.

The role is part of Aviva’s Canada Cybersecurity Operations team and will be primarily based out of our Markham office.

What you'll do
  • Take ownership of incident response activities and create summary reports for management and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze advanced cybersecurity alerts from managed service providers to determine impact, select effective containment and remediation activities, and ensure appropriate recovery.
  • Maintain and enhance incident response tools, including EDR, SIEM, and SOAR, by identifying configuration and alerting rule improvements.
  • Conduct detailed technical investigations of cybersecurity incidents, including root cause analysis, threat vectors, techniques, and tactics.
  • Respond swiftly to cybersecurity alerts during shifts and on-call periods, providing time-sensitive responses.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Group CISO, Privacy Office, and Financial Crime Teams to support investigations involving cyber elements.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment.
What you'll bring
  • At least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity incident response, preferably in a large financial services institution.
  • Strong technical skills in incident response, network protocols, vulnerabilities, and remediation techniques.
  • Ability to analyze cybersecurity alerts to assess business impact and determine containment and recovery actions.
  • Experience maintaining and improving incident response tools like EDR, SIEM, and SOAR.
  • Proven ability to investigate cybersecurity incidents and identify root causes.
  • Effective collaboration skills with internal and external peers.
  • Possession or pursuit of recognized cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CHFI, etc.
  • Experience analyzing and reporting on cyber threats.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple incidents simultaneously.
  • Preferred experience in threat hunting, threat intelligence, or forensics.
