Your Role on the Team:

Customs Operations Managers are responsible for ensuring that the company and its employees operate and process customs clearance activities in compliance with government trade regulations, while focusing on driving the department to meet and exceed budget expectations.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance, provide operational customs brokerage guidance to staff, and ensure customer service retention and departmental financial compliance.
  • Review, evaluate, and implement procedures and processes, including training and mentoring staff.
  • Maintain corporate compliance with company directives (AMPS, CTPAT-PIP).
  • Maintain and enforce Canadian Customs Brokerage standard operating procedures.
  • Drive timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Ensure CARM month-end payments are billed within the same month for reconciliation.
  • Record all shipments with file-level revenues and costs within the same financial period, ensuring proper cost allocations before month-end or accruals.
  • Minimize unallocated payments and assist with A/R functions resolving disputes for non-payment.
  • Be the key contact with governmental agencies aligned to CBSA and lead customer compliance efforts.
  • Evaluate, communicate, and act on exceptions and deviations from Customs Product standards, procedures, and goals.
  • Follow-up on corrective actions to secure continuous development, quality improvement, and profitability.
  • Focus on department KPIs to meet targets.
  • Hire, develop, and mentor staff, conducting annual and mid-year reviews to set future goals.
What You Need:
  • CCS and/or CTCS certification.
  • Hold and maintain a Customs Brokerage License.
  • Optional: CIFFA certificate (a differentiator).
  • 4+ years of Customs Brokerage experience in a leadership role with staff reporting lines.
  • Ability to understand and apply Customs Act, Excise Act, or other relevant regulations.
  • Ability to review products for HS Classification indications and locate applicable department regulations.
  • Cargowise Certified Operator (CCO) - Operator, Specialist, Professional (a differentiator).
