Customer Solutions Agronomist
This position offers:
- Being the preferred provider for customers’ operations
- Running local business activities to benefit customers and Bayer
- Supporting team knowledge and customer experience through agronomic expertise and research, leading to better on-farm decisions
This is a permanent, home-based role with travel within Olds or Lacombe, Alberta, and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities include:
- Achieving squad P&L targets collaboratively
- Planning and executing short-term (90-day), mid-term, and long-term initiatives
- Adapting and reassessing tasks to meet squad goals
- Collaborating within the squad to clarify responsibilities and maximize customer focus
- Using digital tools and agronomic expertise to support Bayer’s portfolio and assess market opportunities
- Contributing to team dynamics through activities like recruitment and performance feedback
- Fostering an inclusive, safe, and compliant work environment
- Defining technical strategies for data and demand generation
- Developing and executing field testing protocols with the Market Development community
- Communicating Bayer’s agronomic solutions to stakeholders and ensuring technology profiles are maintained
- Providing technical support for product performance issues
- Supporting weed and crop protection strategies and stewardship initiatives
- Collecting and analyzing trial data, ensuring high data quality, and collaborating on advanced statistical analysis
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree, or Bachelor’s with 2+ years of agronomy or research experience
- Relevant certifications such as CCA, CCSC, P.Ag, or eligible
- Strong knowledge of crop production, agronomy, and Bayer’s product portfolio
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in planning and executing field research trials
- Strategic understanding of regional issues and their impact on Bayer’s outcomes
- Ability to develop research protocols aligned with customer needs
- Ability to demonstrate and support sales activities on farms
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving ability
- Experience supervising and coaching summer students
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office, CRM, Tableau, and other Bayer software
